Updated
Our guides exist to help dry van owner-operators and small fleets make better decisions. Because we also sell dispatch, we hold the guides to a simple standard: they should be useful and accurate even if you never hire us.
Official sources first
- Rules (weights, sizes, insurance minimums, securement, broker requirements) are checked against the current federal text, such as the Code of Federal Regulations, FMCSA and FHWA pages, IRS pages for tax items, and state DOTs where a state rule matters. Each rule is cited where it appears.
- Equipment specs come from manufacturers' own spec sheets and product pages, shown as ranges because builds differ.
- Company facts and prices (for example load board plans) come from each company's own current pages, with the date we checked. If we can't confirm a price on the company's own site, we don't publish it.
Numbers are dated or labeled
- Market numbers, such as national dry van spot rates, name the publisher and the period they cover. Rate references are reviewed monthly.
- Illustrations are labeled EXAMPLE. They show how to do the math, not what the market pays.
- We don't invent national averages, statistics, rankings, reviews or testimonials.
No paid placements
No company pays to be mentioned, and we don't use affiliate links. Where we compare products, we explain the criteria instead of crowning a winner.
Who writes
Guides are published by the DryVanDispatch Dispatch Desk. Drafts may be prepared with writing tools; every factual claim is checked against the cited source before publishing, and the sources are listed at the end of each guide. When the people who run the desk add their names and bios, author details will appear on the guides.
Dates
Each guide shows the date it was last updated. We update a guide when a rule changes, a source changes, or we find an error.
Corrections
If you spot something wrong or out of date, tell us through our contact page with the page and what you think is wrong. We'll check it against the source, fix confirmed errors and update the date.
Not advice
Guides are general information, not legal, tax, insurance or financial advice. Read the terms of use for more.
